Cambridge Manor, built on the site of a former Victorian school, is one of the newer additions to the TLC Group care home business. The home was completed and opened in August 2009, and quickly made a good name for itself! The home offers a wide range of care to those over 55 years of age who require long term, nursing needs and may be living with the experience of dementia, physical frailty or terminal illness. Similar to Carlton Court, as a result of being a new home, it benefits from a wide range of facilities and the latest technology.
The home is split over four floors, with three above ground and a part basement. The basement houses the back of house areas. The care home is prominantly located on the Cambridge city ringroad, to the north of the city centre. There is a large, bright and airy reception area as you arrive at the home, with the home manager’s office and the administrators office located directly behind the reception area. Resident communal areas are dotted around the home, but have excellent views across the activity of the street and the central garden courtyard. Rooms are equipped with provision for residents to install their own phones and internet should they so wish.
The resident bedrooms at Cambridge Manor all have full ensuite facilities. There is an on-site hairdressing facility, prominently located near the reception area. Lounges and dining rooms are on each resident floor, with lift access to all floors. Each unit has a dedicated nurses station. Resident bedrooms are provided fully furnished with flat screen televisions to every bedroom.
The home offers a full on site kitchen and laundry with the associated staff to provide all meals and laundry care to residents. There is a large training room in the back of house area as well as a generous staff room.
The secure garden offers residents the opportunity to enjoy the outside areas. There are also smaller break-out areas for residents to sit in, should they not wish to be in the larger resident lounges.
The home is in a prominent position, with good road frontage to Milton Road, although access to the home is from Gilbert Road. The area is a mix of good quality residential housing stock and local shops and services. There are good bus routes to and from the home, with reasonably access to the wider road network. Cambridge is an afflucent city, which supports strong fee rates in the home.
